On Tuesday evening, July 10, I will present the current state of our website to our school board at their regular meeting at 7 PM. A pre-recorded version of my presentation is available below in Quicktime format.
This morning I spent several hours working on the front page layout and appearance of our new homepage. A new homepage?? In the coming week, I’ll be over-hauling our website to work completely within the Expression Engine CMS. Currently, our school websites use an earlier version of EE. This new version will allow us some additional social features plus allow even more folks from across the division to update and change their areas of the website without my intervention.
Aside from the front page, most of the website’s “look” will remain the same. Underneath the hood, however, it will all have changed.
I’ve also been working on the new blogging server. When teachers return in August, they will have 2 opportunities to get their blogs up and running. First, they can follow an easy-to-understand set of video tutorials on getting started with their blogs. Second, they can take my 1-hour mini-conference “hand holding” session if they want some more help. And the additional opportunity, to get the most out of the new blogs, is happening this summer with our Blogging 2.0 class.
