30 Years Today

by John Hendron · Jan 24, 2014

January 24.

That’s one of those dates that sticks in my brain, but it’s not my birthday. In 1984 I was in elementary school, and after the commercial came on television during the Super Bowl, I visited a computer store. There it was. I wasn’t sure how I was going to integrate this new tool into my life, but it was exciting and I knew it would be a part of who I might become. Not so much in words, but in instinct.

MacPaint. MacWrite.

In 1988, my parents bought me my first one at home – a Plus. I’ve been a Mac user since 1988.

I was impressed later to learn that creator of the Mac concept, Jef Raskin, was a musician who loved Bach. In 1988 I learned I loved Bach too.

Thirty years goes by fast. Great assemblage of milestones by creative people on Apple’s site.
