Friday afternoon is a professional development day and we’ve been working hard putting together a program entitled Inquire to Inspire. I’ve been primarily responsible for the secondary session meeting at the GHS auditorium for middle and high school teachers. 90 minutes aren’t a terribly long time to push the limit with change, but we hope to inspire teachers from all grade levels with how to take a little piece from G21 – inquiry based learning – and use this approach in teaching every day.
After a brief introduction to how we’ve connected concepts from G21 to project-based approaches arriving at inquiry-based learning, we have a set of online resources that either directly address inquiry or do so through application. We think many are first class tools. We’ll be using this new wiki site to share what we learn and it represents our full guide for the day.
My thanks go to Tina McCay and Laura Kassner for helping organize the primary and elementary sessions. I know they are being assisted by Connie Foreman and Anne Keo. Thanks also go to Tom DeWeerd, Francie Ball, and Johnette Burdette for helping me put this together!
