Last year we piloted giving Google Gmail and Google Docs accounts to students at the middle school and high school. This year, we will do something similar, but with some changes.
This afternoon I have created accounts for all students in Google Docs for Grades 6-12. Teachers who wish to use Google Docs in their classes must go through a short orientation with me or Mrs. Cantor first. In this orientation, we will create your new Google account in the student area (domain) and discuss some management issues.
We will not be offering Gmail accounts this year for students. A new policy planned for this school year for e-mail will require that all e-mail be archived. To do this through Google’s Postini service is too costly for us this year. We will therefore be offering the Google accounts without e-mail.
